Welcome to California!

Hey folks!

My name is Michaela (“Michelle”) Gerl. I am 35 years old, German (Munich, Bavaria), teacher (German & History) and married to Oliver. He is actually the reason, why we both moved to California – because of a great job-offer! Oliver works as a 3-D-Designer and Animator and is now part of the Apple-Family, which means that all his working stuff is a big and mysterious black hole to Non-Apple-Members like me.
But anyway, I did not start this blog to bore you with some wild guesses about the “Next big (Apple)thing”. It was more the idea of doing something meaningful, while my husband is at work – I should mention, that I decided not to work in the U.S. so far, because I needed a little break from my own job. Anyway, I always thought of this whole “Move-to-California-and-start-a-new-life”-thing as a really exciting and awsome chance for both of us, but especially for me, because I wanted to experience a life that is totally different from that I had so long.
We now live in Sunnyvale, which is about 80 km (~ 50 miles) from San Francisco, in an apartment, which is not too expensive by Californian standards (about 3 thousand bucks). This is the place, where I intend to find out about the “American way of life” and also a good starting point for diverse road trips throughout the country on my own, with my husband or with friends and family.

P.S.: Not all of my articles will be in English because it takes really really long to write them. But I’ll do my best to improve!

  1. Dear Mrs. Gerl,
